York Registry Office

York Registry Office

The York registry office, actually called Bootham Lodge, is an early Victorian style mansion that was built in 1840 for a local solicitor called Thomas Walker. The ground floor is now leased by York Registry Office after it was acquired by the trust in 2003.

The Bootham suite, which is located at the rear of the building, is the larger of the two ceremony rooms and is a very light and airy room. It also has double doors which lead you straight out into the beautifully landscaped garden, which is perfect for getting some of those important couple and group photos. Just a short walk away there is also the York Museum Gardens too, which is a beautiful backdrop for your couple photos. Just be aware, the time of year, the day, and the weather can have a huge impact on the amount of people that will be there though.
