Middlethorpe Hall & Spa

Middlethorpe Hall is a William III country house that is just two miles from York’s city centre. It is set in 20 acres of its own beautiful gardens and parkland. Which gives you the best of both city and country. Built in 1699, it was once the home of the famous diarist, Lady Mary Wortley Montagu. But today it is better known for being an elegantly decorated, luxurious hotel and boutique spa, complete with grand staircase which is one of a few locations that is perfect for some couples photos. Another one of those locations is in its award gardens. Just behind the courtyard there is a beautiful rose garden, as well as a walled garden, and if you walk to the bottom of the gardens you’ll find a little lake. Just to the side of the lake there is a large park area, which would be perfect if you were hiring some garden games for a summer wedding.
