The Milner York

The Milner York

The Milner York (formerly The Principal York) first opened its doors in May of 1878, known then as The Royal Station Hotel. There were three entrances, the East End (or town entrance), the West (garden entrance) and the handsomely tiled octagonal entrance which was used most used, as it provided access for both the station and its forecourt. But most visitors now use the garden entrance, which leads to the drive and car park, and of course, the gardens. Which are beautifully kept all year round, and also feature a water fountain, which is a nice location for some wedding group shots , using the hotel as part of the backdrop.

Inside, one of the much-admired features is the grand staircase. Its symmetry makes it a photographers dream, and is great to use in any of your couples photos. My personal preference is to photograph the couple from above, making the staircase part of décor, rather than it overpowering the shot.
