Wedding Videography

Films of your wedding day in York and across Yorkshire

The photographs hold the look of the day. A film holds the sound of it, the vows, the speeches and the noise of a room full of people who are pleased for you.

Wedding videography sits alongside the photography and covers the parts of a wedding that a still image cannot hold: the shake in a voice during the vows, the laugh that runs round the room halfway through a speech, a grandparent singing along badly to the first dance. A film gives you movement and sound, and most couples find they watch it far more often than they expected to.

If you are already looking for a York wedding photographer and wondering whether to add a film, the honest answer is that it depends on how you want to remember the day. Couples who book both tend to be the ones who care about the speeches, who have family travelling a long way, or who simply like the idea of hearing the ceremony again rather than only seeing it. Filming is arranged as part of the booking so the photography and the film are planned together rather than bolted on late.

What a filmed wedding day looks like

The approach is the same as it is with the camera. Arrive early, work out the light and the layout, speak to the registrar or celebrant about what is allowed, then stay out of the way and record what actually happens. Audio matters more than people realise, so the vows, readings and speeches are the priority. Nothing is staged for the sake of the film and you are never asked to repeat a moment that has already gone.

Before anything is booked we will talk properly about what you want from a film, how much of the day needs covering and which parts matter most to you. That conversation also covers venue restrictions, the family members who should be in it somewhere, and how the film and the photographs sit together. Some venues in and around York are tight on space or short on light, and knowing that in advance saves a lot of guesswork on the morning.

Coverage is based in York and runs across Yorkshire and North Yorkshire, from city centre ceremonies near St Helen’s Square to country venues well outside it. Weddings further afield in the UK are worth asking about. If you are not sure whether a film is right for your day, say so when you get in touch and we will work it out between us.

Common questions

Can we book videography and photography together?

Yes, and that is how most couples use it. Booking both at the same time means the film and the photographs are planned around one timeline instead of two, so nobody is competing for the same five minutes of your day.

Will filming get in the way of the ceremony?

It should not. The sound is the important part, so most of the ceremony is recorded quietly from the back and sides, and anything your venue, registrar or celebrant restricts is agreed before the day rather than argued about on it.

Do you film weddings outside York?

York and the wider Yorkshire and North Yorkshire area are home ground, from city centre ceremonies to country venues further out. Weddings elsewhere in the UK are worth asking about, so get in touch with the date and venue.
